OBJECTIVE: Generate additional income and employment in rural areas of Mongolia by promoting added value creation in the seabuckthorn and sheep wool value chains.

HISTORY OF COOPERATION BETWEEN MNCCI AND DIHK

Mongolian National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MNCCI), Association of German Chambers of Commerce and Industry (DIHK)

Both organizations have a long-standing history of collaboration. Between 1999 and 2005 they worked on the organizational development of MNCCI by developing services offered by MNCCI, institutionalizing training courses for the business community and supporting the establishment of first regional chambers. A following project conducted between 2006 and 2013 supported regional chambers as drivers of local economic development. As a result of that project the number of regional chambers grew from 15 to 21, the overall membership of the regional chambers from around 950 in 2006 to almost 2,200 in 2012, 450 (mostly part-time) jobs created in rural businesses and around 2,000 families benefited from increased income.
